Let’s Talk is our PSHCE curriculum for children from EYFS to Year 6. It provides a range of relevant, age-appropriate issues for children to explore through discussion, debate and carefully chosen activities.
The curriculum has been updated to ensure that the issues covered support schools in meeting the statutory Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) requirements for primary schools.
At the heart of Let’s Talk is the opportunity for children to talk. Through realistic scenarios, carefully selected texts, questions and dilemmas, children are encouraged to consider different perspectives, express their own ideas and listen to the views of others.
Three themes run throughout Let’s Talk
As children explore each issue, they are encouraged to consider it from three perspectives:
ME
Thinking about themselves as individuals – their feelings, choices, experiences and responsibilities.
US
Thinking about their relationships and interactions with friends, family, classmates and other groups they belong to.
OTHERS
Looking beyond themselves and considering how issues, choices and behaviours can affect other people and the wider community.
This approach helps children gradually develop their understanding of themselves, their relationships and their place within the wider world as they progress through school.

How is Let’s Talk structured?
For Years 1 to 6, there are between 13 and 17 issues for each year group.
For EYFS, there are eight issues in each year. These are organised as:
EYFS1 – Nursery
EYFS2 – Reception
Schools without a nursery can draw on both sets of EYFS materials and select the issues most appropriate to the needs and experiences of their children.
Each issue is based around a relevant question, topic or situation and provides a structured starting point for learning. Resources include age-appropriate scenarios, carefully selected texts, key vocabulary and opportunities for discussion, debate and practical activities.
There is no expectation that every session should result in extensive written work. The emphasis is on giving children opportunities to talk, think, question, listen and reflect.
